The Department has interests in basin analysis, computer-assisted image analysis, contaminant transport, crustal seismology, teleseismic studies of the lithosphere, seismic hazard studies, environmental earth sciences, experimental high pressure/high temperature studies, exploration geophysics, geomicrobiology, glacial geology, hydrogeology, mantle dynamics and plate tectonics, low-temperature geochemistry, mineral deposits, mineral chemistry & physics, materials science, paleontology, petrology, petroleum geology, Precambrian geology, sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, spectral analysis, stable isotope geochemistry, planetary science and volcanology.
